After more than a decade of dedicated service, Regional Development Australia Northern Territory (RDA NT) extends our heartfelt thanks to Treasurer and Public Officer, Chris Young, who has officially retired from the RDA NT Committee.
Since joining in 2012, Chris has brought exceptional expertise in financial management, governance, and strategic planning to the organisation. His calm guidance and deep knowledge have supported RDA NT through key initiatives over the years, often working behind the scenes to ensure the committee’s financial sustainability and good governance. His contributions have been truly invaluable to our mission of fostering regional growth and resilience in the Northern Territory.
Professionally, Chris most recently served as Project Accounting Manager with Northline Freight, following an accomplished career that included time as Chief Executive of the NT Chamber of Commerce. A Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, Chris has held senior leadership roles such as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary. He remains a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, reflecting his enduring commitment to best-practice governance.
Chris’s dedication to the Territory extends far beyond his professional roles. He has given generously to the community through leadership and volunteer positions with the Defence Reserve Support Council, the Festival of Darwin Committee, the NT Cricket Association, and the Darwin Military Museum Board.
On behalf of the entire RDA NT Committee and team, we sincerely thank Chris for his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and service to the Northern Territory. We wish him all the very best in his well earned retirement.
We’re also pleased to announce that Jimmy Cocking will take on the role of Treasurer and Public Officer. A long standing advocate for regional development and strong governance, Jimmy brings a wealth of experience and deep understanding of the Territory’s unique challenges and opportunities. We look forward to his continued contributions in this new capacity.
