Seeing New Investment Fund
Maningrida Wild Foods is Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporations bush foods brand. The Enterprise has now been running for five years selling wild-harvested native foods (such as Kakadu Plums) and processed products (such as spice mix) that have been sourced by Aboriginal people in the Maningrida region.
Maningrida Wild Foods creates opportunities for land and sea owners to generate income from their country and natural resources. Their work enables people to live or spend time on their clan estates, keep their cultural connections with bush foods alive, promote the consumption of healthy foods in the community and provides an important stream of financial income.
Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation is currently aiming to expand its bush food processing capabilities to boost both direct employment in processing and the procurement of harvested foods through enhanced cold storage facilities. The project encompasses expanding kitchen and workspaces, upgrading cold storage infrastructure, refining packaging methods, and exploring options for transportation and logistics. Moreover, Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation intends to explore new market opportunities and consider associated activities such as educational initiatives and tourism offerings.
Supported by a grant of $48,800.00 from the Seeding New Fund, the project aims to develop a robust business case and conceptual designs, crucial for leveraging future capital funding.
