Seeing New Investment Fund
The Yuendumu Women’s Centre is a community-based organisation located in Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 kilometers northwest of Alice Springs. It was established to provide support, resources, and services specifically tailored to the needs of women and their families in the area.
The Women’s Centre serves as a vital hub of community life, offering a range of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting empowerment, well-being, and cultural connection among local women. However, the existing facilities are in need of development and improvement to better meet the evolving needs of the community.
The Yuendumu Women’s Centre applied for Round 4 of the Seeding New Investment Fund, seeking support to develop a business case for proposed developments. These developments aim to create safe, welcoming, and energy-efficient accommodation for staff relocating to Yuendumu. Additionally, the project aims to ensure public areas of the Women’s Centre properties are accessible and comfortable for all, expand the operations of Nguru Walalja store, and enhance programs and services for Yuendumu women and families. The resulting business case will inform funding proposals for necessary upgrades.
